Calling all playwrights in Ottawa, Gatineau and across the NCR!

Undercurrents Festival and artistic director Emma Ferrante have invited us to produce this year’s Nouveau Play Tuesday!! Ba ba ba wa owhhhaaa!

WHO ARE WE? We're kinda lika brand-new theatre company made up of Ottawa artists, and we're just kicking off now, so thanks for having us! BUS STOP MADONNAS is a femme-led company that loves hyper-theatricality, satire and radical processes and perspectives.

WHAT DO WE WANT? Solos/monologues/poetry, let’s say minimum 10 minutes. Existing work, new writing, completed scripts, works in progress or even an idea you want to bounce off us. We're interested in all of it! Toutes les langues sont les bienvenues. On parle aussi français, Deutsch et українська, et ça serait très cool qu’au moins un des textes soit dans une autre langue! All languages are welcome!

WHAT ARE WE DOING? This year, we're collaborating with musician Mia Beaudoin-Dion, who will perform live in tandem with actors. Together, we'll create one feast of dramaturgy from four selected works. Rather than presenting them one after another, we'll jump between them, interrupt one with another, and let each piece change how we hear the others.

HOW WILL IT HAPPEN? We're here to put Ottawa-area writing in front of people. We want the writers in the rehearsal room with us as we build the show. 20 remunerated hours. We'll present at Nouveau Play Tuesday during the Undercurrents Festival at Arts Court Studio in February 2027, and the evening will wrap up with a talkback between the writers and the audience.
