Dillon ORR

Dillon Orr is a queer Franco-Ontarian stage director and Artistic Executive Producer of Ottawa-based Créations In Vivo. Originally from the Detroit River region, he is a graduate of the University of Ottawa and the National Theatre School of Canada. Rooted in Franco-minority grassroots theatre and the art of bouffon, his practice embraces satire, absurdity, and contemporary popular entertainment. Recipient of the Ontario Arts Council’s Pauline McGibbon Award (2021) and named a protégé of the Johanna Metcalf Performing Arts Prizes (2025), Dillon’s work has also been recognized by the Rideau Awards and Réseau Ontario, with distinctions for production, playwriting, and performance, including the Coup de foudre and Prix Audace Desjardins awards. His directing credits include Patenteuses (2026), Vaches, The Musical (2022), Mourir de trop gueuler (2025) and its sequel, La terre est gronde (2023), Le club des éphémères (2022), Jeff Koons (2019), and Ceci n’est pas une lettre d’adieu (2017), for companies including Créations In Vivo, Théâtre du Nouvel-Ontario, Théâtre français de Toronto, Théâtre du Trillium, and Théâtre Catapulte. As a performer, he has appeared in 1.2.3. (2022) and 2042 (2021) at the National Arts Centre’s French Theatre. He has also contributed as a columnist to Radio-Canada Ontario programs, including Grands lacs cafés (2017–2019) and À échelle humaine (2020–2024). An active theatre educator, he teaches and facilitates workshops across secondary, post-secondary and professional settings. As a co-founder of Bus Stop Madonnas, Dillon is thrilled to bring his particular brand of theatrical corruption to English-language theatre, where he intends to be just as much trouble.
